By default the tree bottoms out at Pals you can catch in the wild (from the game's spawn table, commonest
first). Open Advanced to restrict it to Pals you own instead. Pathing is gender-agnostic (you can always obtain the
needed gender); the Katress/Wixen gender rule is surfaced on the affected step. Self-only Pals (tower bosses,
uniques, collab Pals) can't be bred from other species — the tree will say so.
